Ian Lind at http://www.ilind.net

Once in awhile I will stop by his website at http://www.ilind.net to read what he writes. He used to be a reporter with the Honolulu Starbulletin. Well it really makes me sad that they let him go in 2001. It was politics of course. Personally I think he writes way better than some of the crappy inaccurate writers that they have now. Well his mother graduated from Kamehameha Schools which means that he is most probably Hawaiian too but I think he is. I can kinda see the iwi in him LOL Seriously... if his mother graduated from Kamehameha then she is most probably Hawaiian. I state that because some people have lied about being Hawaiian on their application but most often they do not because Hawaiians have no reason to lie if they really are Hawaiian. ANYWAY it makes me sad but I wrote this email to him today:

"I'm reading your recent post and the StarBulletin never should have let you go. I admire what you have done with your words as with your pics. I wish there were more people like you. Anyway I stop by your website once in awhile and enjoy your posts."

I deleted the parts about how I know that his mother graduated from Kamehameha Schools, how much I admire him, and how sad I am that they let him go. I think that if he read that he would think that I was crazy *LOL*

Anyway he wrote to me and of course I am in total awe of him. I'm not sure if people know who he is but he took pictures of Hawaiians who protested before I was born LOL He also took pics of the protestors in 1976 at Kahoolawe:

Well he wrote back to me and it's hard to read his words because I admire him so much. It's like if someone who admired Malcolm X or Dr Rev Martin Luther King Jr wrote to them. As a child I remember Ian Lind's name. I just didn't know who he was because I was a child when he took those pictures lol Plus I notice that the media in Hawai'i does not and continues to censor pictures of Hawaiians which annoys me. I like seeing pics of Hawaiians but I can understand that it makes some people uncomfortable. Like the staff at Honolulu Starbulletin where Ian Lind used to work. Makes me wonder how rare it is to see pictures of Hawaiians in their paper. I think that they fired him because of his race. That is... because he's Hawaiian which is UNCOOL. That is why I like when he writes because they cannot silence that Hawaiian. I really enjoy loud Hawaiians though one Hawaiian keeps telling me to hush *LOL* (inside joke)

Anyway if anyone has time and would like to read his website check out http://www.ilind.net

You know.. I always noticed favoritism toward Hawaiians and racism towards the haoles when I lived there. I find it hard to believe that he'd be fired for being Hawaiian, unless that paper was a complete exception to the rule and owned and managed by people who don't live in Hawaii.

I never noticed that pics of Hawaiians aren't in the papers there...? But then.. I never read the papers, lol.

It is quite possible that his mother is not Hawaiian. From what I understand, there was a previous policy that allowed non-Hawaiian children of Kamehameha School teachers to be enrolled at the school. I believe this policy was abandoned some time in the sixties.

I too liked his writing and reporting.

Just FYI
I just ran across your comments and am totally in awe that someone would feel that way about my work, such as it is.

And, for those who like old photos and are interested in such things, here's a photo of my great-grandmother, who was Hawaiian, and her daughters, including my grandmother, who was 1/2 Hawaiian.

Anyway, please stop by www.ilind.net from time to time and see what's up.

And, really, thanks again for the undeserved praise.
