I've been online since about 1989. This was my personal blog for my family and friends spread throughout the world. I've maintained this LJ from May 2001 to March 2008 until some people insisted on pissing in the pool... so we left. I used to write regulary here too. It was so much fun... while it lasted. Now it's pretty much dead here.

As of March 2008 I no longer update this journal daily though once every 7 years or so I  post an update LOL

Besides work I have been working out as usual, gardening, and reading lots.

More importantly SURFING, skiing, and at the gun range every chance I get!!!

I have changed my username to "leanneciccone" so PLEASE as soon as you can add me so I can comment in your journal from there.

Someone found my journal and was reading the old entries, which are too many to change individually, so I just made a new name.

I hope I dont lose any friends this way!!

Dec. 2nd, 2004 12:11 pm (UTC)
Hey... thank you for your comment. IF I were you I would definitely attend HPU if you can. They have good programs there and the classes are small.

Hi! There were a couple of posts about the Hawaiian language in the linguaphiles community recently, and I recommended that the posters invite you to come comment. I don't think they did.

You can see the thread right here. Your friend maldito is there. :-)

Aloha Fellow Hawaiian!
I'm not too good with the LJ thing and i LOVE your layout. Perhaps you could give me some help with mine or i could have your overrides. I don't want to sound needy or demanding, this stuff just blows my mind.
Dec. 22nd, 2004 10:16 pm (UTC)
Actually I used the default option for "Component" then changed the color. I didn't use any overrides but if you want more help you can always check out component_help. It has alot of hints but mine is just a plain Component with pink and black for the colors.

Re: Hello
Hi. I didn't know that my online journal was listed but my real name is Lana. You don't need to call me "Haole" but "Haole Girl" is my nickname from my grand uncle.

As far as the Chippewa, I have read some things about the struggles and I'm biased when it comes to native people. Just so you know. Anyway I hope you see this and thanks for commenting! L :)

Aloha kaoa,
I love what you are doing to promote the Hawaiian culture and people. I just recently moved to Oahu and, although I'm haole, have been educating myself about Hawaiian music, folktales and trying to learn the language.

Hey... thank you for even responding to my post. I'm not sure how you are enjoying Hawai'i so far but I hope that you enjoy everything that it has to offer and hopefully give something back. Anyway my Better Half is haole too and I have no problem with haole people as I am part haole. I think you will find that common in the islands where people are of mixed ethnicities.

Anyway thank you. For someone to even want to learn about another culture and perhaps its language... that's pretty cool! :)

found your journal thru a comment about hawaiian food in the hip_domestics community; I was shocked to see someone else there that actually knew poi from potatoes. :)

ethnically pretty strictly haole myself, but born and raised in Honolulu, so naturally I'm finding your journal more than a little bit interesting...mind if I add you?
Feb. 2nd, 2005 02:00 am (UTC)
That is funny LOL But I was surprised that no one else had commented about that so far. Anyway I see that you're in SF. Nice area. You're so lucky. Anyway I'll add you.

LOL you are so funny. sometimes i write in french and sometimes i mix the hawaiian with french so that people who understand french cannot translate the hawaiian part LOL I havent done it in the last month or so though just out of laziness. Anyway you are a cool doctor! I hope my nieces decide to go into medicine.

with other journals. I usually just ask to be added. but for some reason, I feel that would be impolite here. not sure why. I think it's cause I've been lurking for a bit. Anyways, I would like to add you as a friend, but I won't if you do not want me to. thanks.

Re: hello.
I noticed that you belong to a few communities where I belong to but I don't mind if people add me. Thanks for asking though which is rare these days :)

advice? =)

I really hope that this okay but i just wanted to ask you for some advice. You seem very informed about race relations in Hawaii. I am a Canadian student working on a class project about minorities in Hawaii. We were going to use the islands as an example of a place where different ethnicities are respected and where there are successful relations between the many ohanas. However, after reading the information that you have posted to various communities, I would absolutely love to get your perspective. Are there are any key things that I should read/ understand that might help with the project? We are looking at how ethnicity ties in with national identity as well, if that helps, and are examining the context of minority groups in nations. This would be a good chance for us to further understanding about the current climate in Hawaii for a number of students who may go out and work with a variety of other groups/ cultural settings in the future.

Thanks very much for any insight.

Hi, I stoped by your journal after reading your comments in Gym-Rats today. I was wondering, do you have a website, or any information you'd be willing to share about the macrobiotic diet you were talking about. It sounds interesting, and I'm looking for a diet to regualte body-fat. Thanks, and feel free to delete if this clutters your post too much. :)

No problem. This website kind of explains it:

But my nutritionist suggested that I can eat one serving of meat, chicken, and eggs per week. Unlimited fish but even that may be dangerous for women and/or pregnant women.

This website gives you more info:

This book from Amazon, "The Macrobiotic Way" has good info too:
