Yo!

Olelo noeau

One of the many reasons why I like my privacy is because of one of our olelo noeau:

E noho iho i ke opu weuweu, mai ho oki eki e.

Remain among the clumps of grass and don’t elevate yourself.

Do not put on airs, show off, or assume an attitude of superiority.

Unfortunately someone else mentioned that if I don't tell people who I am (???) that it seems hewa. Okay... what are we to do? Mention our name and risk being seen as arrogant OR humbly hide?

I prefer to humbly hide because I like to remain among the clumps of grass. Unfortunately some people... they annoy me.

What is a Hawaiian to do? That's why I say... don't be so hard on other Hawaiians because instead of moving forward we are moving sideways. Sigh.

But that is mainly why I like my privacy. I don't like to tell people my business because I like to stay among the clumps of grass and NOT stand out. I hate it. I hate it when some people notice me! The Catch 22 of course is that some people scrutinize this choice of humbly hiding. Instead they mistakenly see it as hiding in a bad way but it's not bad to humbly hide!

Thus I want to run away and hide. However I can't... even if I wanted to because there is no longer anywhere else to hide.
