I love this picture.

I just noticed this picture of "Hawaiians eating poi in front of a grass house, circa 1880" courtesy of the Honolulu Advertiser:





One of the few things that I inherited from my kupuna are ancient poi pounders as well as poi pounding boards. I treasure them over anything else.


Anyway I like this picture because it shows how Hawaiians have evolved and adapted. Unfortunately this is often overlooked. Instead the media rarely if ever shows us. Either that or they make like we invisible so it's refreshing to see more pictures of Hawaiians because yes... we still exist.

I'm certainly not going anywhere hehe

saw that pic. again yesterday while combing all their files (pictoral ones) looking for something my cousin Byron asked me about.

Yeah... sometimes it's extremely difficult for me to read the local papers because it saddens me when they try to make us look like monsters. Lately I've been looking at pictures because they show us as human beings.
