Keaukaha will always have a special place in my heart because my Hilo Grandma's mother lived there and I was fortunate to spend my summers as a Haole looking Hawaiian child. Even if I looked Haole as a child... other Hawaiians there treated me like one of their own. That is, they didn't see me as a portion nor fraction of a Hawaiian. Instead they saw me as HAWAIIAN. I also learned that not all Hawaiians are pilau... in Keaukaha.
Also if it was not for Keaukaha then I would probably act and look more Haole than I already do haha Seriously... it is where I learned that I was Hawaiian. It is also where I learned to love ake, aku palu, poi, weke, etc. Keaukaha... is a part of me. Anyway the group Kekai Boyz is from Keaukaha. I love this song that they sing. I think about my sweetie when I hear this song except my sweetie is a guy... not a girl. It brings tears to my eyes:
I Want You To Know by Kekai Boyz
I'm leaving now, my girl
So hear me clear
If you don't mind,
I'd like a second of your time
to express my feelings
that I will share with you
I want you to know that I love you so
I want you to hear that I need you near
and if you feel like I do you gotta let me know
you gotta ease my mind, so I can sleep tonight
I say what I mean to you girl
and I know you do the same
I know that the past can hurt you
but please dont be afraid
Still I'd like to tell you
that if you dont feel the same
I want you to know that I love you so
I want you to hear that I need you near
and if you feel like I do you gotta let me know
you gotta ease my mind, so I can sleep tonight
I'd like to tell you too, that I'll be back for you
and if you wait for me, then I'll wait for you
and if you wait for me, then I'll wait for you
I want you to know that I love you so
I want you to hear that I need you near
and if you feel like I do you gotta let me know
you gotta ease my mind, so I can sleep tonight

I think I'm related to Avery Reis but it's not because I am related to him that I like their music. Actually all Hawaiians are related to each other through the progenitors of the Hawaiian people, Wakea and Papa, so I am related to other Hawaiians... period but being related to a musician and me liking their music are not mutually exclusive. I just like their music.
More about them can be seen here: http://www.fearlesshawaiian.com/kekai_boyz/
Kekai Boyz definitely gets my thumbs up :-) so I strongly suggest people buy their CD to listen to the heart beat of a Hawaiian or Hawaiians... through their music.
