Hawaiians continue to be disrespected by former owner of the Honolulu Advertiser. In his latest piece the editor allows him to single out and target Hawaiians based on our race. If he targeted Jewish people the way he does this would NOT be tolerated. Anyway here it is:
The truth is that the palace "belongs" to the people of the "Nation of Hawai'i" which is not the same as the "State of Hawai'i."
See... it doesn't take more than two sentences to mention the truth yet what does he do?
He lies about Hawaiians who are Hawaiian by ethnicity and/or by nationality as citizens of the Nation of Hawaii
which is a sign of racism.
Anyway this should not be tolerated. Sadly the Honolulu Advertiser allows him and a few others to single out and target Hawaiians based on our national origin. Again... this would NOT be tolerated if they wrote about Jewish people based on their national origin like how they write about us. In fact his ass would be GRASS! I tell that to the editors too yet what do they do? Censor me! Sadly since we are Hawaiian they allow him and a few others to write their racism against Hawaiians for all to read and do not do a damn thing about it!
ISLANDS' HISTORY
'IOLANI PALACE BELONGS TO ALL OF US IN HAWAI'I
'Iolani Palace belongs to all of us, Dave Shapiro to the contrary (Volcanic Ash, March 14).
It is a key part of the history of Hawai'i. That's why I strongly support taxpayers' money being used to keep it in good shape for the world to admire.
I don't support the Akaka bill, but I do make annual contributions to the palace as do people of many racial backgrounds. As a vital historic site it is a symbol of every step in our governmental history.
Racial division should have no part in how it's used. It played a central role in the days of the monarchy, then the overthrow, the republic, annexation and statehood. It's the only structure that ties our multi-racial history together. No part of the community was excluded from the palace in any of those time periods.
'Iolani Palace, Hawai'i's museum — a perfect place for marking Hawai'i's history.

Some people have asked me why I think that Jere Krischel, Ken Conklin, and Thurston Twigg-Smith are racist against Hawaiians. Well it's simple. All this time all they did was mention what is WRONG with us... nothing about what is RIGHT about us. This is an excerpt of what I wrote and is reposted here for those who have asked me:
"Again... the focus is on the Hawaiian... as in Hawaiian by ethnicity and/or Hawaiian by nationality... not based on diatribe after diatribe of only commenting on what is WRONG never mentioning what is RIGHT with the Hawaiian people, their history, their kingdom, etc.
Focus is on the Hawaiian people as it should be."
This after Jere Krischel tries to spin the entire topics to serve his purpose which is to bash our history which ends up bashing us. In any case I am very aware of them only mentioning what is WRONG. The latter part of that excerpt is because Jere Krischel likes to bash our history when the focus is on the Hawaiian... as it should be. Don't just bash our history. Mention what was/is RIGHT. You know... for fairness and balance.
If they were not racist against us they would mention what is RIGHT too which they failed to do all this time. Again... my CHINESE eyes are watching LOL
Looking at this... I think that I was a bit harsh LOL:
"I have three uncles who proudly served in the armed forces:
Paul ________ - Vietnam
John _______ - Korean Conflict [edited for graphic nature]
Wallace ________ - Vietnam
Respect? Yeah... have some respect for the Kingdom of Hawaii for my uncles who proudly served in the armed forces on behalf of the United States.
Then again did anti-Hawaiian Ken Conklin serve in the armed forces? Thurston Twigg Smith? Jere Krischel?
Let me guess.... I bet it's a NO LOL
On the other hand, Keanu Sai has.
Many many other Hawaiians have fought for the United States too.
So before typing [censored]... PLEASE think before typing and before lecturing me about this country (U.S.) and/or about respect."
Unfortunately people like Jere Krischel, Ken Conklin, and "Harry the Ignorant American" like to spew inaccurate information about Hawaiians. Their latest ploy? Well they inaccurately assert that Hawaiians receive government funding solely based on race. Hmmmm... nice try but Hawaiians are not the ONLY ones who receive race-based funding. The significant difference is that these men ONLY target Hawaiians. That is why I can tell that they are racist against Hawaiians because they ONLY single out Hawaiians. In any case... do the facts matter? Of course they do and here are some facts about other race-based programs. It's called race-based programs for MINORITIES which is one good thing about the United States. In any case here is a list of some race-based programs that they (Ken Conklin, Thurston Twigg-Smith, and Jere Krischel) "conveniently" fail to mention during their agenda targeting Hawaiians and ONLY Hawaiians:
This is not unusual and though I am not the brightest crayon in the box... in one of my other civil cases... I think it was in 2003... I sued an individual... I told my attorney what to do so this is not news to those who know me *LOL*
"Again... LEARN our language before developing conclusions about our language.
Also review these race-based programs because one looks Lo Lo when you mention race based programs solely for Hawaiians:
There are other government programs specifically for minorities and racial groups receive government funding such as:
1. Indian Health Service Student Aid Resources

2. America’s Fund for Afghan Children which is based on race:

5. Migrant Education Coordination Support Center another that receives government funding partly based on race:

7. Traditionally Underserved Populations; Program Office: Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA)

I really like this letter and shows how people are not easily fooled by Jere Krischel. In addition the person behind this is Thurston Twigg-Smith who allegedly lent his copy of the Morgan Report to Jere Krischel. Nana i ke kumu... or "look to the source" and the source (i.e. Thurston Twigg-Smith) is a descendant of one of the rich Haole dudes who helped illegally overthrow a kingdom called the Kingdom of Hawaii aka the Nation of Hawaii. He is a puppet master trying to de-humanize the Hawaiian. Here is proof that this is not working as Stephen T. Boggs (whom I do not know) points out in his letter below:
OVERTHROW: MORGAN REPORT OP-ED DOESN'T REFLECT FACTS
Jere Krischel's Jan. 15 op-ed, "Morgan Report is public at long last," sounds more than a false note; it appears to be part of an orchestrated effort to suggest that Sen. Morgan's report of 1894 about the role of the U.S. government in the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy was right and Sen. Blount's report was wrong.
Actually, the conclusions of the Morgan Report without the accompanying documentation have been widely available ever since they were submitted to the Senate.
Why does it matter now? Because Morgan maintained that the U.S. was blameless in the overthrow. His view supports the argument that the Republic of Hawai'i was a legal government and thus entitled under international law to transfer the sovereignty of the Kingdom to the United States.
Thus Krischel states: "In response to the findings of the Morgan Report, (President) Cleveland rebuffed further entreaties by the queen for intervention and recognized the Republic of Hawai'i as the legitimate successor to the kingdom." The republic was never legitimate, however, because the majority of the population opposed it.
Nor was the Morgan Report responsible for changing Cleveland's policy. For an accurate account of that, readers should consult Thomas J. Osborne, "Annexation Hawai'i" (Island Style Press 1998), pp 79-81. Cleveland lost the support of Congress when he tried secretly to reinstate the queen. The Morgan Report reflected a compromise within Congress: It absolved Cleveland for his effort and recommended no further action to annex Hawai'i.

Of course my theory is that Jere Krischel, Thurston Twigg-Smith, Ken Conklin, and attorney H. William Burgess have one thing in common:
That is all of them try to de-HUMAN-ize the Hawaiian. They try to use any and all tools in order to dismiss our history and our culture in order to dismiss us as HUMANs and thus as people.
It remains to be seen if we (as Americans) allow people like that to do that kinda stuff in the United States. I will see but fortunately the majority of Americans only want to do the right thing. They do not wish harm on Hawaiians so I am not worried. However I write about these de-humanizers of Hawaiians so that others can see the full story from A HAWAIIAN (i.e. ME)... not just biased reports about us.
Also I'm part Chinese so Kung Hee Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year! :)
I am brief and to the point when responding. Typically I respond in a few sentences... or less. In this case this is my review of Thurston Twigg-Smith's "Hawaiian Sovereignty: Do the Facts Matter?"

My review of this book:
"I bought Thurston Twigg-Smith's book, "Hawaiian Sovereignty: Do the Facts Matter?" at one of the shops at the Honolulu International Airport. The book was basically the author trying to defend his "great" grandfather in case there is a class action lawsuit [brought by Hawaiians and Hawaiian nationals] against his grandfather's estate. It was like I was reading Emperor Hirohito and Tojo Hideki's version of history.
A waste of my money and more importantly... my time. I want my money back. I also want the two days back that it took to read it."
More book reviews to come.
Here is a pic of me taken when I was in New York last year with my husband. He took this picture of me when we visited "the Gates" "art" exhibit at Central Park. It was cold. I was standing in Strawberry Fields of the Beatles' fame. At the time, my hair was an Apricot Blonde. Now it's a Golden Suntanned Blonde and may change at any time. My husband always tells me "pretty hair" over and over and over and over LOL I may dye it purple or even pink but this is how it looked last year:

Another discussion with Jere Krischel who seems mad at me... an excerpt:
( Snip )
Jere: "Racism is about treating races differently - merely not addressing other racial programs is not sufficient to establish racism. You need to establish that they would have a different opinion on other race based programs if they had the time and energy to address them."
Me: Then WHY are you, Conklin, and Twigg Smith ONLY addressing race-based programs as it pertains to Hawaiians. What about these:
1. Indian Health Service Student Aid Resources
http://www.ihs.gov/JobsCareerDevelop/St udentAid/StudentAid_Index.asp
2. America’s Fund for Afghan Children which is based on race:

Jere: "Both Twigg-Smith and Conklin are fighting racism the first place you should - in their own back yard. I'm sure that after race based programs in hawaii are dismantled, they will inspire others across the country to fight against institutionalized racism as well."
Me: Racism is irrelevant of location. That is key. IF they truly wanted to help eradicate racism then they would not only target programs that help Hawaiians. Instead they would target other race-based programs such as those above as well. Also I will NOT allow them to target Hawaiians and only Hawaiians. To do so would be aiding and abetting a hate crime which I refuse to do.
Jere: I see kanaka maoli and other hawaiians being makewai, and I want to give the little water we have to the thirsty ones regardless of race. You want to give water only to the kanaka maoli, even the ones that already have enough. Your singling out and targeting of non-kanaka maoli is the real hate crime here.
Me: That is UNTRUE. Again... I help children of other races in Florida AND in Hawaii. However if you want to convince yourself that you would help give some water to a thirsty Hawaiian then why did you ASSume that I was in the upper class while attending Kamehameha Schools? If you would be willing to give some water to a thirsty Hawaiian then you would not ASSume that all Hawaiians who attend Kamehameha Schools are wealthy. That is what you saw which you cannot deny. Therefore your perspective and judgment of Hawaiians seems skewed and at times unfounded.
As for me "singling out and targeting of non-Hawaiians" being a hate crime note that I do not only write about non-Hawaiians:

In today's paper, Edwin Ramos wrote in response to Rolf Nordahl, Bob Gould and Thurston Twigg-Smith's attempts to try to twist the truth to fit their paradigm. I like this letter and agree with him. Here is his letter:
Being part-Hawaiian, I didn't want to get involved with the Akaka bill debate because I knew the role color played would eventually come to the surface, and here it is.
Letters by Rolf Nordahl, Bob Gould and Thurston Twigg-Smith that deny Americans overthrew the Hawaiian monarchy remind me of how some people deny that the Holocaust ever happened.
And maybe the American warship Boston, docked in Honolulu's harbor, was sitting there to intimidate the white businessmen (or "revolutionists," as Twigg-Smith likes to refer to them) into giving up their economic grip over Hawai'i and its people.
Thinking back to that era when women and blacks were denied even the basic rights of citizenship, and civilized "white" Americans slept well with the indigenous "red" Americans safely placed on Indian reservations, it's hard for me to believe that the president of that era would go against his people's popular way of thinking to put the concerns of poor "brown" Hawaiians over those of rich "white" businessmen. He may have denounced the businessmen (i.e. revolutionists), but he did nothing to reconcile their actions.
The USS Boston, in plain view of the Hawaiian people, was a constant reminder of the power behind these businessmen. To suggest that Hawaiians didn't notice this overt "presence of military might" can only be attributed to someone's overly developed sense of denial. The indirect use of military might not only played a vital part in the overthrow, it secured it.

Very few of the sovereignty goals can be reached without the help of the majority of Hawaii's people and our goal is to get people to realize that working together a lot of things can be accomplished and time saved. Without the support of the majority, the Hawaiians are fighting a losing battle and wasting a lot of time. So we all need to look for avenues where we can work together.

self-determination is a right that belongs to all the people of Hawai`i. What many in the movement are concerned about involves economic independence more than it depends upon political independence.
We can be thankful that this is one of very few (too few) active sovereignty conflicts in the world with no bloodshed. It is an intellectual pursuit. The Hawaiian way revolves upon consensus. That consensus should be reached with participation of all of Hawai`i's peoples.

I disagree. It's the consensus of oiwi as it pertains to Hawaiian sovereignty NOT only all of Hawaii's people but the consensus of oiwi. Hawaiians have rights too. His assertion does not seem to support that and that they are unique from the consensus of other people in Hawaii whether it be online, offline, in discussions, on tv, on radio, etc. The consensus of oiwi or "Hawaiians" are significant and important when it comes to Hawaiian sovereignty.

I don't see nor read Ken Conklin nor Thurston Twigg-Smith mentioning the Augustine Educational Foundation latest award of $350,000 in tuition scholarships to 336 Hawaii Catholic school students. Oh that's right. They only discuss Hawaiians. Seriously... the Augustine Educational Foundation has presented more than $3.1 million in scholarships since 1986. Do Hawaiians grumble that only Catholics school students receive this aid? No. Anyway good news in the islands:
The Augustine Educational Foundation has awarded $350,000 in tuition scholarships to 336 Hawaii Catholic school students.
The grants were paid to Catholic schools on the four major islands for 215 Oahu recipients, 48 on the Big Island, 27 on Kauai and 46 on Maui. Students in grades K-8 received $1,000, and in grades 9-12, $1,500.
The foundation has presented more than $3.1 million in scholarships since 1986. It was founded with the profits from the sale of St. Augustine School in Waikiki, and has been endowed by several contributors, including $2 million from the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation.

He makes me laugh. For some ODD reason he mistakenly thought that I was in the upper class while attending the Kamehameha Schools. Surprise surprise! I was extremely poor. Probably worse than some people CARE to imagine. A brief glimpse of some of my meals: corned beef hash with onions, spam and rice, jook (Chinese rice soup), and meat if and only if our maternal grandmother bought some for us which I find amusing nowadays because I remember when she used to visit us. That is when we could eat hamburgers *LOL* She also did not allow us to eat at McDonalds. She was a good influence heehee
Anyway this dude Jere Krischel mistakenly thinks that I base my opinion of Ken Conklin and of Thurston Twigg-Smith on some of what they write. Uh NO LOL I have communicated with both men. Now I ignore them because I do not and will not associate myself with racists. After asking them a few questions, reading their words, and reading their lawsuits I developed the conclusion that they are racist against Hawaiians because they ONLY discuss Hawaiians. Not Chinese, not Japanese, not Portuguese. ONLY Hawaiians. If Jere disagrees with me then fine but I have communicated with Ken Conklin and with Thurston Twigg-Smith. I do not care if they are wealthy. They are racist against Hawaiians! He can communicate with them if he wants to but I am Buddhist too. I believe that they cannot take their money with them just as other wealthy people cannot and that is why I am not impressed by money.
Of course I attract MANY wealthy men but it's not their money that attracts me to them. Instead it's because they are good men and are not racist LOL Seriously... nothing that Jere nor anyone else tells me about Ken Conklin nor about Thurston Twigg-Smith will change my mind.
An example. I ignored former Federal Judge Paul DeSilva who is one of my cousins. Do you think I care that he is a retired judge? NO! That is why I ignored him and I will ignore and disassociate with anyone whom I think is racist against Hawaiians because UH... I AM Hawaiian LOL But Jere Krischel is funny. I wonder if he works for Thurston Twigg-Smith *LOL* But nothing and no one will nor can change my mind. They are racist against Hawaiians. Am I the only Hawaiian who thinks this? No and it's not news to us. It's just that I write about it. Gasp! I am exercising my right to express myself as well as the privilege of using Livejournal haha That's because Jere tried to lecture me on rights and privileges. Now I'm gonna fight for my right... to paarrrrrttttty:

Seen in today's newspaper... a letter addressing Thurston Twigg-Smith's kernels of truth which he subsequently uses to try to revise Hawaiian history:
U.S. FORCES COMPLICIT IN QUEEN'S OVERTHROW
Thurston Twigg-Smith, in a Nov. 3 letter, stated that the overthrow was not conducted under the auspices of the United States. Perhaps it was not ordered by the United States, but it was certainly conducted with the complicity of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Minister John L. Stevens.
In "Shoal of Time," Gavan Daws states, "Secretary of State Gresham told [President] Cleveland that Minister Stevens, an accredited representative of the United States, had helped to overthrow the Hawaiian monarchy. Gresham ... suggested that in the name of justice the monarchy ought to be restored. ... There had been no genuine revolution, wrote Gresham. The queen had been overawed by Minister Stevens and the troops from the [USS] Boston. 'Her submission was thus coerced. The affair was discreditable to all who engaged in it. It would lower our national standard to endorse a selfish and dishonorable scheme of a lot of adventurers.' "

This was written in the Honolulu StarBulletin on July 24, 1998:
Twigg-Smith family has long opposed monarchy
Knowledgeable students of Hawaii's history know that Thurston Twigg-Smith's grandfather, Lorrin A. Thurston, was a founding father of the Honolulu Rifles, that forced the Bayonet Constitution upon David Kalakaua in 1887. He was a leading perpetrator in the illegal overthrow in 1893 and was chairman of the annexation commission and the driving force behind the unconstitutional annexation in 1898.
Few know, however, that at least four generations of Thurstons have been ardent annexationists or apologists for it. In 1854, Thurston blood boiled for annexation in the veins of Twigg-Smith's great grandfather, Asa Goodale Thurston, speaker of Hawaii's House. According to the journals of Robert C. Wyllie, "Speaker Thurston had pressed annexation so vehemently that he had given great offense to Native House members."

Can we say E-X-P-O-S-E-D? :O Seriously... Lorrin A. Thurston was money and power hungry. He like his grandson Thurston Twigg-Smith profited off of the plight of Hawaiians and he can be held accountable for what his grandfather did. That is, his estate can be sued. Just saying.
Any other Hawaiians wanna sue his grandfather's estate and thus sue him? I challenge (and urge) other Hawaiians to file a class action lawsuit against his grandfather's estate. Of course it would not be about money. That is the primary reason why Hawaiians do not sue but Hawaiians can always ask for the judgment rendered to be that Thurston Twigg-Smith must not revise Hawaiian history.

Lie:
noun.
A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
Something meant to deceive or give a wrong impression.
Today former owner of the Honolulu Advertiser, Thurston Twigg-Smith, who sold the Honolulu Advertiser in 1992 to the Gannett Corporation, the largest newspaper chain in the United States, for $250 million wrote some lies in a letter to the editor in the very newspaper that he used to own inccurately asserting that the United States didn't overthrow the Hawaiian monarchy. (The truth: Representatives of the U.S DID.) Here is his letter:
APOLOGY ERRED: UNITED STATES DIDN'T OVERTHROW MONARCHY
Rolf Nordahl in his Oct. 20 letter demonstrates a major problem in the Akaka bill debate: He apparently believes the apology law is an accurate record of Hawaiian history. Many others are in the same boat. But as Sen. Inouye, its sponsor, emphatically made clear during the brief debate on the measure (on which no congressional public hearings had been held so there was no way to correct the language of the resolution), the apology law is "a simple resolution of apology, nothing more."
Its first sentence, which Nordahl quotes, states that one of its purposes was "to offer an apology to Native Hawaiians on behalf of the United States for the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawai'i," implying the U.S. conducted it. Any student of Hawaiian history knows the revolution was instigated and carried out by a group of subjects of the kingdom, not the United States.
President Cleveland made that clear in denouncing the revolution and ordering the revolutionists to return the kingdom to Queen Lili'uokalani. If it had been U.S. policy to take over Hawai'i, would he have done that? No way.
The U.S. Supreme Court further made that clear in its 7-2 ruling in favor of Rice over Cayetano, by finding the whereas clauses contained other errors of fact that the state could not rely on in its arguments.
Thirty years of revisionist history under the supervision of the UH Center for Hawaiian Studies have clouded the situation for young students in Hawai'i, but they ought at least to be clear on one thing: As Bob Gould correctly said in his Oct. 14 letter, "The U.S. did not overthrow the monarchy."

The Truth:
1. He states, "Any student of Hawaiian history knows the revolution was instigated and carried out by a group of subjects of the kingdom, not the United States."
The Truth:
On January 16, 1893 a Citizens “Committee of Safety” composed of white American businessmen was organized.
On January 17, 1893 a provisional government began.
On February 1, 1893 a provisional protectorate proclaimed. U.S. flag raised on government buildings. Treaty of annexation written and signed by President Benjamin Harris. The new President, Grover Cleveland, had the treaty withdrawn and sent James Blount, investigator, to inquire into the circumstances of the revolution.
On December 18, 1893 Blount’s report to Cleveland is submitted to throne. Failed.
On July 4, 1894 The Republic was established. Sanford B. Dole was its first President.
On January 6, 1895 there was a counter-revolution to restore Queen Lili‘uokalani to her throne. Failed.
On January 16, 1895 Queen Liliuokalani was illegally arrested and imprisoned in Iolani Palace.
On January 24, 1895 Queen Liliuokalani signed statement of abdication (abdicating her throne) while soldiers WITH GUNS are outside of her room.
On February 8, 1895 The Queen was tried and convicted of treason. While sentenced to confinement in her room in ‘Iolani Palace, she composed “The Queen’s Prayer.”
In Fall 1896 Queen Lili‘uokalani was freed by the Government of the Republic.
Between 1897 and 1898, Hawaiians signed the Ku E Anti-Annexation/Anti-Statehood Petition: http://libweb.hawaii.edu/digicoll/annex ation/petition.html
My great grandmother Rachel Lokinihama Among is listed on the first page, number 24: http://libweb.hawaii.edu/digicoll/annex ation/petition/pet007.html
On July 8, 1898 American annexation secured.
On August 12, 1898 A U.S. flag was raised in Honolulu. Hawaiian flag lowered. Queen Lili‘uokalani remains secluded at Washington Place.
On August 21, 1959 Hawaii became the 50th State of the United States of America.
On November 23, 1993 then President Clinton signed UNITED STATES PUBLIC LAW 103-150, 103d Congress Joint Resolution 19, which explicitly states, "To acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the January 17, 1893 overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii, and to offer an apology to Native Hawaiians on behalf of the United States for the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii."
2. He states, "Thirty years of revisionist history under the supervision of the UH Center for Hawaiian Studies have clouded the situation for young students in Hawai'i, but they ought at least to be clear on one thing: As Bob Gould correctly said in his Oct. 14 letter, "The U.S. did not overthrow the monarchy."
His assertion is inaccurate. His own grandfather took part in the illegal overthrow with the assistance of the US Marines.
Thurston Twigg-Smith describes himself on his personal racist website against Hawaiians here:
"His mother was the daughter of Lorrin A. Thurston." Seen here: http://www.hawaiimatters.com/bio.ht ml
Thurston Twigg-Smith's grandfather, Lorrin Andrews Thurston, was an attorney and the former owner of the Honolulu Advertiser (he bought it in 1898 when it was known as the Pacific Commercial Advertiser). He was the son of missionaries in Hawaii. Favoring U.S. annexation of Hawaii, he was one of the leaders of the revolution (1893) that overthrew Queen Liliuokalani. He helped draft the constitution of the Hawaiian Republic, and after annexation retired to private life. As principal owner and editor of the Honolulu Advertiser, he was a promoter of the tourist and pineapple industries. Thus he profited off of the plight of Hawaiians.
That is, his own grandfather aided and abetted in the ILLEGAL overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy so I can understand why he's trying to deflect attention away from himself and/or away from the crime committed by his grandfather which is pending litigation and am confident that one day the U.S. court will rule that a portion of Thurston Twigg-Smith be awarded to Hawaiians as part of reparations. That doesn't include the properties that he owns in Hawaii of course but legally there is much to be decided and some Hawaiians are slowly but surely working their way there. Anyway his grandfather took part in this illegal overthrow so I can understand why he tries hard to rewrite our history because if he doesn't then the court(s) may take some of his billions of dollars away. That is probably why he spreads lies about our history.
However it will not work. People are not as dumb as this multimillionaire makes us out to be.
3. His inaccurate assertion that the U.S. did not overthrow the Kingdom of Hawaii can be easily disproved with a picture of U.S. Marines troops who arrived on the USS Boston to help Sanford B. Dole and Lorrin Andrews Thurston's Committee of Safety, a 13-member council of businessmen plotting to depose Queen Lili‘uokalani. At the gunpoint of American soldiers, Queen Liliuokalani was removed from Iolani Palace under arrest, tried by the American Judge Advocate General's Corps and then imprisoned in her own home.
This of course is similar to what the U.S. is doing to Iraq trying to overtake their government which they have done so already as a constitution was drafted there. Invading their country with the help of U.S. Marines.
A picture is worth a thousand words:

4. Also his budget is about 250 MILLION dollars which he earned after he sold the Honolulu Advertiser to the Gannett Corporation in 1992. Mine is $125. He is also the owner of the Persis Corporation which is in addition to the $250 million that he earned when he sold the Honolulu Advertiser to the Gannett Corporation. Note that his two main team members, Easton Manson and William Crowley, are graduates of Punahou School which is a school for descendant of missionaries. That is... for HAOLE people: http://www.persiscorp.com/_aboutPer sis/index.html Note his philanthropy does not include children of Hawaiian descent: http://www.persiscorp.com/_Philanth ropy/index.html More importantly, I DO NOT APPRECIATE HIS LIES. Since I'm Haole too I also do NOT appreciate how uncompassionate he is to those Hawaiians who are less fortunate as he is considering that Hawaiians continue to comprise approximately 38.7% of the homeless population in Hawai'i which outnumber other ethnic groups:
see page 24 at http://www.hcdch.state.hi.us/03homeless study.pdf
He even asks, "Do the facts matter?" on his website, http://www.hawaiimatters.com. Yes... the facts DO matter. Therefore STOP LYING ABOUT HAWAIIAN HISTORY. I will not tolerate his lies nor his racism against Hawaiians nor his attempts to rewrite Hawaiian History. Period.

Akaka Bill Supporters Ignore Key Questions
There's a lot of debate and rhetoric going on these days, but here are a few questions the supporters of the Akaka bill never touch. They are major issues:
Why go any further with a bill as ambiguous and divisive as the Akaka bill? Our government should help everyone in need, not just a race-based, definition-created class of residents. We are all citizens of the United States, and we all deserve equal treatment under the law.

Akaka Bill Supporters Ignore Key Questions
There's a lot of debate and rhetoric going on these days, but here are a few questions the supporters of the Akaka bill never touch. They are major issues:
- Is this bill going to be good for all the citizens of Hawai'i — Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians alike? The answer has to be a resounding no. Its benefits are race-based. Divisiveness helps no one.
- Is there really a class of people called "Hawaiians"? Not really. Percentage Hawaiians — 50 percent or whatever — have no historical origin other than having been created by federal and state statutes.
- Is someone who carries 90 percent other than Hawaiian blood really a Hawaiian? Again, not really. Those Hawaiians who keep showing up on the welfare rolls, prison statistics and economic statistics are there by census definition, not because they are members of the Hawaiian race by any measure except by definition.
- Are Hawaiians as bad off as they are made out to be? No way. There are 200,000 or so living on the Mainland, and they are for the most part successful. Of the 260,000 or so living here, at least 75 percent are doing quite well by any standard. Some are more successful than others, and some less — just like the rest of us.
Why go any further with a bill as ambiguous and divisive as the Akaka bill? Our government should help everyone in need, not just a race-based, definition-created class of residents. We are all citizens of the United States, and we all deserve equal treatment under the law.

* In this letter, the writer points out how Thurston Twigg-Smith is basically the devil in human skin. Also it looks like the writer is haole... scolding another haole. I love it when that happens because it shows how some haole people are cool and some who are not so cool to Hawaiians. And there are many haole people who are cool. Letter also sought to rewrite history
Thurston Twigg-Smith writes in his Jan. 23 letter: "There are apparently no bounds to rewriting history."
Twigg-Smith should know; he states: " ... she (Lili'uokalani) went to the Supreme Court, for example, to gain personal title to the ceded lands ... " Mr. Twigg-Smith is wrong. Lili'uokalani sued in the United States Court of Claims, not the Supreme Court. Lili'uokalani sued not for "personal title to the ceded lands," as Twigg-Smith states, but rather her complaint addressed her interest in the crown portion of the crown and government lands as follows:
"First: That the United States of America be summoned to appear and answer this complaint and be bound by the proceedings herein.
"Second: That the United States be decreed to be a Trustee of the Crown Lands herein before specified for the use and benefit of your petitioner (Lili'uokalani) so far as her equitable life interest in said Crown Lands is concerned.
"Third: That the United States be decreed to pay to your petitioner (Lili'uokalani) said sum of Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($450,000), or in the alternative that the United States be decreed to account to your petitioner for the rents, profits and emoluments derived from said Crown Lands after deducting the necessary and proper expenses of managing the same, for the period of six years next preceding the date of filing this petition. ... "
Twigg-Smith's letter typifies the snide anti-Hawaiian revisionism he seems to take great pleasure in. Hawaiians know who their queen was and what she stood for. Mr. Twigg-Smith, why are you trying to change that by offering these revisions of well-documented and easily researched history?
