Hawaiians continue to be disrespected by former owner of the Honolulu Advertiser. In his latest piece the editor allows him to single out and target Hawaiians based on our race. If he targeted Jewish people the way he does this would NOT be tolerated. Anyway here it is:
The truth is that the palace "belongs" to the people of the "Nation of Hawai'i" which is not the same as the "State of Hawai'i."
See... it doesn't take more than two sentences to mention the truth yet what does he do?
He lies about Hawaiians who are Hawaiian by ethnicity and/or by nationality as citizens of the Nation of Hawaii
which is a sign of racism.
Anyway this should not be tolerated. Sadly the Honolulu Advertiser allows him and a few others to single out and target Hawaiians based on our national origin. Again... this would NOT be tolerated if they wrote about Jewish people based on their national origin like how they write about us. In fact his ass would be GRASS! I tell that to the editors too yet what do they do? Censor me! Sadly since we are Hawaiian they allow him and a few others to write their racism against Hawaiians for all to read and do not do a damn thing about it!
ISLANDS' HISTORY
'IOLANI PALACE BELONGS TO ALL OF US IN HAWAI'I
'Iolani Palace belongs to all of us, Dave Shapiro to the contrary (Volcanic Ash, March 14).
It is a key part of the history of Hawai'i. That's why I strongly support taxpayers' money being used to keep it in good shape for the world to admire.
I don't support the Akaka bill, but I do make annual contributions to the palace as do people of many racial backgrounds. As a vital historic site it is a symbol of every step in our governmental history.
Racial division should have no part in how it's used. It played a central role in the days of the monarchy, then the overthrow, the republic, annexation and statehood. It's the only structure that ties our multi-racial history together. No part of the community was excluded from the palace in any of those time periods.
'Iolani Palace, Hawai'i's museum — a perfect place for marking Hawai'i's history.

A rally will be held this Saturday at Iolani Palace on Oahu after the Ninth Circuit Court ruled that the Kamehameha Schools' Hawaiians-only policy is unconstitutional. Please attend! (But don't protest the protestors lol) Some people may or may not know but Kamehameha Schools is the only school for Hawaiian children which is similar to the schools that they have for native Americans. (I'm an alumna of that school.)This rally is also extremely important to me so please show up if you can.
For the record it's not a racist school. In fact I am English, Hawaiian, Chinese, and Portuguese. I MARRIED a Haole dude with blonde hair and blue eyes. I am no exception. In fact the founder of the school, Bernice Pauahi Bishop, married a Haole dude named Charles Reed Bishop. The argument that it's racist against other ethnicities really is invalid since most Hawaiians are mixed breeds/poi dogs/ etc. To quote my former Honors U.S. History teacher, Leroy Bass, who was popolo (or "black) "I love the Hawaiian people because they are so nice." It's true:
When: August 06, 2005 Saturday - 08:00 AM - 10:30AM
Event Type: Community Event
Where: 'Iolani Palace
Honolulu, HI
Description:
This rally will create a special venue for gathering all who support Kamehameha’s policy of giving preference in admissions to Native Hawaiians. It is intended as a unifying event, a time to come together as a community to express our ongoing commitment to improving the capability and well-being of Native Hawaiians. During my visit to 'Iolani Palace, I rushed outside to take a pic of Hawaiian children who were attending Explorations. A week-long program for kids of Hawaiian descent to get in touch with their roots. These are non-Kamehameha Schools students. These are one of the 400,000 Hawaiians left on this earth: 200,000 or so in the Hawaiian Islands and 200,000 or so on the continental U.S. Considering that only 200,000 or so Hawaiians live in the Hawaiian Islands... WHAT IS FAIR AND JUST?
Presently there is a lawsuit pending filed on behalf of a non-Hawaiian child whose parent(s) think that Kamehameha Schools is violating their child's rights because s/he is not Hawaiian.
I ask this:
If there were only 400,000 Hawaiians left... then what do you think is just?
Do you think that Hawaiians are a dying breed that has much to offer Hawai'i OR do you think that one can love the plant (Hawai'i) yet not its roots (Hawaiians) which is a terrible lesson to teach kids?
Also these kids of Hawaiian descent as well as myself had to pay $5 just to see our ancestors' belongings and our ancestors' property. Let me charge you $5 to access your great great grandmother's home. Let me charge you $5 to look at her comb and brush.
