Old Hawai'i

My parents met at this theater in Waikiki. I think it was in about 1962. So far they've been married for about 41 years. Well it makes me sad when I see parts of Hawai'i's history destroyed especially when I see some Hawaiians destroy themselves but I digress hehe They will probably build something else there since there are money-grubbing leeches who want to suck the life out of her (Hawai'i):

Demolition of a Waikiki landmark continued yesterday, as the Waikiki 3 Theatre on Kalakaua Avenue, opened in 1936, comes down.

Now kama'aina have no reason to go to Waikiki except if there's some big reception at a hotel or something... So sad. I remember small kid time going to this theatre when they had the palm trees and the twinkling stars on the ceiling and the organ player. I also liked the Kuhio Twin which was torn down about 10 years ago for a Nike Town...:-( I think the only old style movie theatre left is the Varsity, and I don't think it will be around for much longer...

Very sad. I've been there many times, I don't remember what movie it was but they actually showed a cartoon before the film, and this was in the late 70's. The last movie I saw there was Stephen King's "Creepshow".
