I am an animal lover and it annoys me when they stress the impact on dolphins and not on Hawaiians. This group should work on limits on people moving to Kona, Hawai'i which create this "water traffic." Also what about the Hawaiians? Yes... it annoys me:

"More people and more activity in Hawaii waters means more impact on ocean creatures, and the entertaining spinner dolphins might be the most stressed. Here, spinner dolphins are seen near Keahole Point, Hawaii."

Group wants limits on dolphin access: Increased water traffic is disrupting the natural processes of spinner dolphins

People choose their battles, and every single battle can not be fought for the Hawaiian people. Other things need to be addressed as well, including the environment. Look at it this way, in and of itself it is good to care about the dolphins. DOES it take away from caring about the Hawaiians? Probably not.. because the person working to help the dolphins would still not be working on the Hawaiian rights issue even if the dolphins weren't an issue. So it really isn't taking away from the Hawaiian rights issues at all.

Good point as usual but sometimes it really annoys me because as a child I have watched many people focus on animals other than Hawaiians so I am somewhat biased. But you are right about people choosing their own battles. I mean... I do it. Others do it too.

I agree with angel_one that we all pick our battles as it does get tiring trying to fight on every front. It is sad too that most people simply do not see how ALL these issues are connected-the impact of colonization/globalization/the acquisitive worldview is so harsh on people(already colonized as well as 'tribal' peoples) and animals, ecosystems, -even just the simple joy in living that should be everything's birthright from the Creator gets shuttled under the rug in favor of the whole power/control/money thing. It seems like whenever people are oppressed, animals are harmed, suffering is occuring all you need to do is look to see who is profiting from it-because someone always is:-(
I do think tho with so many people standing up and discussing what is wrong and working on so many solutions and ideas we aren't going to stay on this destructive path much longer(i hope at least!)
I dont know why they cant institute growth limits in Hawaii(and here in FL!) like they did in Seattle. Fragile ecosystems, (especially those with people who were already there and should not be pushed out so some jerk can make a million dollars) can be protected legally-but it seems like the mainstream culture lumps animals and indigenous peoples everywhere in that category called "externalities".
(sorry if that was a bit rambly bad headache=poor writing skill today!)
