I've been online since about 1989. This was my personal blog for my family and friends spread throughout the world. I've maintained this LJ from May 2001 to March 2008.

As of March 2008 partly because some Russians (SUP) took over SixApart LOL, I do not know how they will use my personal information, and I do not like censorship of any kind like how they censor some citizens in Russia so I no longer update this journal. (I used to maintain this blog for my family and friends who live in various parts of the world. I have since been posting in my other blogs elsewhere at Wordpress and Twitter as well as at Facebook. (I prefer Wordpress and Facebook over Livejournal.) I also have a dreamwidth. I log in here once in awhile to leave comments. If you want to find me look for my Wordpresses though they are under different names.

Stalkers, stalkers everywhere: Some stalkers who don't have much of a life sometimes spend their time stalking me online. Unfortunately for stalkers while I log into this blog to leave comments nowadays I write and maintain a personal blog elsewhere so there isn't much to stalk here.

Update: I'm in the midst of buying this investment property which is a 1200 square foot (heated) single family home for about $60,000 U.S.:

Trying to get some duplexes and triplexes too. Therefore not much time to sit and post here LOL

Besides work I have been working out as usual, gardening, and reading lots.

My "new" leather reading chair that I bought from a hospice thrift store for $80 yo:

The picture does not do it justice. As you can see the flash washed out the color but dayum... it's a comfy reading chair LOL

with matching couch which was about $280:

I have also been sewing

and packing lunchboxes for work and for play:

As well as adopting two more dogs from the SPCA:

Now I have three dogs (two adopted from the SPCA) and one cat (also adopted from the SPCA.) GOODBYE!

I have changed my username to "leanneciccone" so PLEASE as soon as you can add me so I can comment in your journal from there.

Someone found my journal and was reading the old entries, which are too many to change individually, so I just made a new name.

I hope I dont lose any friends this way!!

I'm not too good with the LJ thing and i LOVE your layout. Perhaps you could give me some help with mine or i could have your overrides. I don't want to sound needy or demanding, this stuff just blows my mind.

Actually I used the default option for "Component" then changed the color. I didn't use any overrides but if you want more help you can always check out [info]component_help. It has alot of hints but mine is just a plain Component with pink and black for the colors.

Hi. I didn't know that my online journal was listed but my real name is Lana. You don't need to call me "Haole" but "Haole Girl" is my nickname from my grand uncle.

As far as the Chippewa, I have read some things about the struggles and I'm biased when it comes to native people. Just so you know. Anyway I hope you see this and thanks for commenting! L :)

Hey... thank you for even responding to my post. I'm not sure how you are enjoying Hawai'i so far but I hope that you enjoy everything that it has to offer and hopefully give something back. Anyway my Better Half is haole too and I have no problem with haole people as I am part haole. I think you will find that common in the islands where people are of mixed ethnicities.

Anyway thank you. For someone to even want to learn about another culture and perhaps its language... that's pretty cool! :)

advice? =)
Hi,

I really hope that this okay but i just wanted to ask you for some advice. You seem very informed about race relations in Hawaii. I am a Canadian student working on a class project about minorities in Hawaii. We were going to use the islands as an example of a place where different ethnicities are respected and where there are successful relations between the many ohanas. However, after reading the information that you have posted to various communities, I would absolutely love to get your perspective. Are there are any key things that I should read/ understand that might help with the project? We are looking at how ethnicity ties in with national identity as well, if that helps, and are examining the context of minority groups in nations. This would be a good chance for us to further understanding about the current climate in Hawaii for a number of students who may go out and work with a variety of other groups/ cultural settings in the future.

Thanks very much for any insight.

Hi, I stoped by your journal after reading your comments in Gym-Rats today. I was wondering, do you have a website, or any information you'd be willing to share about the macrobiotic diet you were talking about. It sounds interesting, and I'm looking for a diet to regualte body-fat. Thanks, and feel free to delete if this clutters your post too much. :)

No problem. This website kind of explains it:

http://www.diet-i.com/macrobiotic-diet.htm

But my nutritionist suggested that I can eat one serving of meat, chicken, and eggs per week. Unlimited fish but even that may be dangerous for women and/or pregnant women.

This website gives you more info:

This book from Amazon, "The Macrobiotic Way" has good info too:

I'm an Airforce brat and lived in Pearl City through the 4th grade. Though I am hoale, I grew to love the Hawaiian language. I recently read that there are only a few thousand speakers of the language now. I hope that it doesn't die out.

You Go Girl
As someone very into the local Hawaiian culture as well as a Native Californian, I can so relate to this post. Of course you love her...duh, only an idiot wouldn't... Like California, the unfriendly non natives have raped and abused her but like California, she glitters under it all. I have to say unfriendly non natives because I believe many people come to a place from somewhere else and make it home and show the respect to the land and the waters that they deserve... it is just so many come to take take and take and our two states are kind and gentle and continue to give. In a world that thinks Oli's and chants primitive at worst or amusing at best... I think Florida probably falls into this class too. I was raised to believe in the power of a Higher Spirit, Earth Magic, and Nature as a living thing. Most true Hawaiians and Californian's were. I think in California's case it was the combined beliefs of the Native American and the strongly Pagan influence of the California Catholic Church (a hold over from our Scottish and Irish roots). The beliefs of the Hawaiian culture is similar to the Pagan/Catholic and Native American. Both respect and honor our ancestors and the spirits that guide us. Both respect and honor our Earth as a living thing. It is a shame really that people don't see that each thing we destroy destroys us as well. The only other states I think I could really live in are Hawaii and Florida...
Damn straight it is your journal and damn straight post whatever you want... no one forces someone to read it.
